Map of My Dead Pilots by Colleen Mondor

The book is a revealing journey into the dangerous profession of being a pilot in Alaska. Taking chances becomes the norm when flying for a transport company in Alaska. When there are deadly combinations of icing, fog, mountains, over weight loads, and older aircraft, getting your cargo delivered so that you get paid seems to take precedence over safety. An Interesting look into this way of life and game of chance.

FInn by Jon Clinch

Clinch uses references from Twain's book to weave the story of Finn (Huckleberry Finn's father). Finn is a dark and seedy character haunted by demons both past and present, tormented by his own father's idealism and hatred for him and his alcoholism that he has inherited from his grandfather. A brute and a drunkard, Finn is a sinister man who has a forbidden relationship with Mary, a former slave, who is unable to escape the brutal power Finn has over her. I found this book to be a very good book and I highly recommend it.

Lazy B by Sandra Day O'Connor

The Supreme Court Justice tells about her childhood growing up on a ranch in Arizona & New Mexico and of the hardships balanced by a loving hard working family. An interesting read.
