Abomination by Jonathan Holt

This book, in a way, reminded me of Dan Brown's books.  The Venice police end up working with the U.S. Military to try to uncover what they think is a conspiracy theory.  This book could have a sequel. An interesting read. -- Submitted by Mariann

Silent Wife by A.S.A. Harrison

Another relationship gone bad.  I don't know who said this was better than "Gone Girl" (maybe I read it on Amazon) but they were completely wrong at least in my interpretations of the two books.  The style of this book just seemed to drag on with things I didn't care about.  The only thing it had going for it was it is based in Chicago and my husband's high school was mentioned.. The Silent Wife did not have the same impact as Gone Girl. Even though it is a small book, not may pages, it took me forever to read -- not impressed! -- submitted by Marianne

Buried Secrets by Joseph Finder

This is a series I came across with a character named Nick Heller. I loved it!  If you like Vince Flynn, David Baldacci, and Michael Connelly you will like this series as well.  I don't know how many books he has written but I hope he continues to do sol I couldn't put it down! -- submitted by Marianne

Even by Andrew Grant

I believe this is a new author with a character who is much like Mitch Rapp except David Trevellyan is from the Royal Naval Intelligence.  I think the more Andrew Grant writes, his stories will get better.  Not a bad read. If you like Vince Flynn and David Baldacii you may like this book. -- submitted by Marianne

Little Star by John Ajvide Lindqvist

A creepy story. This book is full of demented, delusional misfits who are seriously off their nuts! Translated from the Swedish to British English you may scratch your head at some of the lingo. Lindqvist has been said to be the Swedish Stephen King. You be the judge.

Light of the World by James Lee Burke

Image
Burke is a master of suspense in this Montana thriller of a killer escaped from prison bent on bringing down Alafair, a young journalist who interviewed and wrote an article on him. She along with her family are vacationing in Big Sky country at their friend and author Albert’s house who is an environmentalist against the big energy corporation and his neighbor the Youngers.  The Youngers have the local police in their back pocket and secrets to protect at the expense of others. This is a Dave Robicheaux novel a repeat character of Burke who has a mystery to solve where ever he goes.  Another, “ I couldn't put it down” mystery.

Until She Comes Home by Lori Roy

Based in 1958 this book is about a group of neighbors where the husbands all work at the same place and their wives all go shopping together. A neighbor girl, who is a bit of a simpleton that everyone looks out for, disappears on the one night no one is paying any attention .. After that things go from bad to worse with these characters. A pretty interesting read. -- submitted by Marianne
