Bomb Maker by Thomas Perry

A bomber tries, with many different homemade bombs, to take out the entire LA bomb squad. When the bomb squad looses half their team while trying to diffuse a complicated bomb they call in a former squad leader, Dick Stahl, to help.
A quick read and suspenseful page turner.

Crossing the Line by Bibi Belford

I just have to give a shout-out to Bibi Belford for her children's book "Crossing the Line". Bibi is a local author who is also a teacher in Aurora.

Her book takes place in Chicago in 1919. Billy's family falls on hard times when after WWI his father is no longer able to support them. The family relies on a boarder, who Billy is convinced is a spy, to make ends meet. When Billy gets moved from an all white Catholic school in Chicago to a public school, he becomes best friends with Foster, a Black boy. Billy's eyes are opened to racism in ways he never imagined.

A very good story for all ages.
