Influenza by Dr. Jeremy Brown

A timely (by design) book on the flu virus. Brown takes a look back in history at the pandemic of 1918 and a look now, all that we have learned in 100 years about the virus that took so many lives. Are we really any closer to understanding and controlling this disease? A very readable book on something that affects, or should I say afflicts most of us, if not all of us, at some point.

River by Peter Heller

Best friends, Wynn and Jack, decide to take a much talked about vacation canoeing the rivers and lakes connected to Hudson Bay. Their vacation takes a dark turn when they spot a forest fire traveling fast, their way. In an effort to warn other folks camping in the area, they are drawn into a dark fight for their lives and the life of a women they have rescued.
Heller creates suspense and tension in his new novel that will keep you turning the pages. I recommend this book!

Smiling Man by Joseph Knox

Young detective Aiden Waits tries to redeem his reputation by solving the case of the Smiling Man, a body found in an empty hotel. All the while he is drawn back to memories of his traumatic childhood as a criminal from his past reappears.
A fast paced, complex English mystery.
